Always send things by ‘signed for’ post

One of my clients returned his completed Personal Independence Payment (PIP) form in September 2022. He used the ‘signed for’ service at the Post Office.

He tracked the delivery on the Royal Mail ‘Track & Trace’ website, and it was signed for two days after he posted it.

However, he has now received a letter from the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) informing him that, as he has not returned his form, his claim may be stopped.

The letter is dated two weeks after receipt of his form was signed for by a person at the DWP!

I do realise that the DWP is dealing with many thousands of claims, but they are dealing with vulnerable people who are struggling with life and this is not helping them.

Please, please always send these forms using the ‘signed for’ service.
